HOME & GARDEN

Projects

An old house is always a work in progress. From decorating and DIY to the continuous upkeep old structures require. Here is where you can find out what is going on behind the front door of this beautiful old house in the Scottish Highlands.

Preserving Autumn Leaves

The Hallway

When you can’t find the perfect wall paper, you just paint your own. I’ve been working on this wall for actual months now. I wanted an autumn leaf motif that seemed to fade as you walked further away. I couldn’t find the perfect colour way to match the vintage Laura Ashley curtain I bought for the window…so I painted it.

The Guest Bathroom

Would you believe I painted that? I absolutely did. This is the guest bathroom and it has even been on TV! That’s right, this room was seen on the BBC on Scotland’s Home of the Year. Sadly, we didn’t win. But I still haven’t broken it to the bathroom yet.

The Entryway

I made these shelves in the entryway the first winter we lived here. Those mucky doors hid heating pipes, and I just couldn’t believe that there weren’t shelves there already. The great thing about these shelves is they look like they were always there.
